Articulation disorders seen in children, their causes, and correction methods through speech therapy.
Articulation disorders are characterized by incorrect or unclear production of sounds. They can make communication difficult by affecting speech intelligibility.
What Is an Articulation Disorder?
Errors seen in the production of speech sounds: - Sound substitution (e.g., "wabbit" instead of "rabbit") - Sound omission (e.g., "nana" instead of "banana") - Sound addition (e.g., "buhlack" instead of "black") - Sound distortion
Age-Based Expectations
Some sound errors are considered normal at certain ages: - Age 3: p, b, m, n sounds - Age 4: t, d, k, g, f sounds - Age 5: ch, sh, s, z sounds - Age 6: r, l sounds
